A number of organizations hold protected lands in the York River watershed. These include:
  • York Land Trust: easements
  • Town of York: Grant House
  • Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge
  • Maine IF&W: Mt. Agamenticus area
  • York Water District
  • Kittery Water District
  • Nature Conservancy

The protected land has been mapped at the parcel level by the Coastal Mosaic Project, based on information provided by the York Land Trust.  An electronic database of landowners will later accompany this digital information.

L2.  Conservation Options: A Guide for Maine Landowners.  Maine Coast Heritage Trust. 1994.

The "classic" reference for various land protection options in Maine, ranging from conservation easements to donating land to selling land.  Provides an overview of the legal and financial implications of conserving land.
